Obama administration says Russia could join NATO

The Obama administration is not ruling out the possibility of Russian membership in NATO.
Assistant Secretary of State Philip Gordon told U.S. lawmakers Tuesday that the United States would consider Russian membership in the military alliance that was founded to protect Europe from Soviet aggression.

Will it ease entering the USA?
Russia will not take cooperation with NATO or US seriously unless US will clean up the mess with Georgia, Ukraine and the antimissile system in Eastern Europe.
NATO was formed to defend the European countries from any USSR aggression. USSR is no more, so why do they need NATO? Is it to dictate the whole world on their terms when no body is there to object?
I think Russia, Georgia and Ukraine should be given membership of NATO. It will provide regional balance to this very important organization.
NATO is no longer a threat for Russia but it's threat for whole world now. We saw the role of NATO in Iraq and Afghanistan. There is a need of parallel block to counter the NATO. Russia should organize the other countries to check the growing NATO hegemony.
